Hosted by the Colegio de Registradores de España, the XIX ELRA General Assembly took place in Barcelona on 16th May 2014.

ELRA was honored to welcome representatives from 24 associations from 20 EU Member States.

Relevant speakers from the European Institutions, Professors of Law from the University of Maastricht and Valencia, the Secretary General of CINDER and EULIS representatives also participated in the Assembly.

Recent and future ELRA activities were presented by Alasdair Lewis, ELRA President. He underlined the importance of the new ELRA project IMOLA (Interoperability Model for Land Registers) for the following two years. Supported by the Civil Justice Programme of the EC, its main objective is to increase the accessibility and transparency of Land Registry information and to facilitate the registration of cross-border documents.

Dick Heimans, Deputy Head of Unit Criminal Law, DG Justice of the EC, introduced the Interconnection of Land Registries, a key topic for ELRA. This was followed by a presentation on the Free Movement of Public Documents by María Vilar-Badia, also from the DG Justice of the EC.
